Galen

Galen

Overview

Galen is an Eldorian. He has a reputation as a legendary warrior. A scholar. A wise strategist. According to the stories, he has accomplished amazing feats and knows things others do not.

In reality, Galen is a charlatan. Not weak in body alone. Weak in mind and spirit too. He has no real knowledge. No real strength. No real ability.

He was born with a silver spoon. Born into wealth. He has never done a day of work in his life. Never needed to. Other people have always done the work for him. That is all he knows. How to get others to work while he takes the credit.

Nature

Galen is scrawny. Armor makes him tired. Splinters cause him serious injury. He cannot carry heavy things. When he tries to sound impressive, his voice develops a stutter. His words stumble. His voice wavers.

His arms look like noodles inside his armor. Armor is decoration on him, not protection. What he says about himself and what is obviously true do not match.

His Only Skill

Galen is good at one thing. Writing. He writes with confidence and clarity about deeds he never performed. About victories he never won. About knowledge he does not possess. His propaganda is written, not spoken. His lies are on paper.

He writes false accounts of his accomplishments. Detailed stories. Compelling narratives. Tales of heroism that never happened. And because they are written well, people believe them. They spread. They become legend.

His reputation was built entirely on written propaganda. Stories told and retold. Rumors spread by those around him. None of it is true. But people believe it because he was born into wealth. Because his words on paper are convincing. Because he surrounds himself with capable people and takes credit for their work in his writings.

How He Operates

Galen leads expeditions by telling others what to do. They do it. He stays safe while directing more capable people toward the difficult work. When something succeeds, he writes about it. When something fails, he writes a different version of events.

This is what he has always done. This is the only thing he knows how to do. Get others to work while he writes glowing accounts of his leadership. He does not fight. He does not strain. He does not think.

He only writes. Beautiful, convincing lies.
