Item Loaning
Item loaning lets you lend a piece of equipment to another player for a set number of days. When the loan ends, the item comes back to you automatically.
It is a great way to help a friend or guildmate try out stronger gear without giving it away for good.
How it works
- You pick a player, an item and how long they can keep it.
- They get a loan offer and can accept or decline it.
- Once they accept, the item moves from your inventory into theirs.
- When the loan ends, the item moves back to you.
This is the real item, not a copy. While it is on loan, you do not have it.
How to loan an item
- Go to the profile of the player you want to loan to.
- Press "Loan".
- Press "Add Item" and choose the equipment you want to loan.
- Choose how long the loan lasts.
- Choose who pays the fee.
- Press "Review Loan" to check the details, then press "Send Loan".
You can also start a new loan from the "Loans" button on your own profile.
The other player will get a notification. Nothing is taken or charged until they accept.
TIP
The other player needs a free inventory slot to accept the loan. If they already have the same item, it stacks and no extra slot is needed.
What can be loaned
You can loan an item if it is:
- Equipment, such as weapons, armour and tools.
- Tradable.
- Not locked in an upgrade.
Each loan is for one item.
Who can loan
Both players must be able to trade. You cannot loan or borrow items if:
- Your account is trade locked.
- Your class cannot use the market, such as Banished or Cursed.
- You are on an alternative character below total level 150.
- The other player has turned off incoming trade requests.
Loan length
You can loan an item for 3, 5, 7, 14 or 30 days.
The loan starts when the other player accepts, not when you send it.
Fee
Every loan has a fee. The fee is not paid to the other player. It is removed from the game.
The fee is based on the item's estimated market value and how long the loan lasts.
- A base fee of 1,000 gold.
- Plus 10% of the item's estimated market value.
- Very valuable items (over 1,000,000 gold) pay a slightly smaller percentage.
- The total is then adjusted for the loan length.
| Loan length | Share of the full fee |
|---|---|
| 3 days | 25% |
| 5 days | 40% |
| 7 days | 50% |
| 14 days | 70% |
| 30 days | 100% |
Every loan costs at least 1,000 gold, no matter how cheap the item or how short the loan.
Discounts
- 15% off for each player in the loan who has a membership. Two members means 30% off.
- 25% off when both characters are on the same account.
WARNING
If either player's account is flagged as high risk, no discounts apply to the loan. You pay the full fee even if you have a membership or are loaning to your own character.
Who pays
When you send a loan, you choose who pays the fee.
- Sender pays all of it.
- Receiver pays all of it.
- 50/50 splits it evenly.
- Advanced lets you pick your own split in steps of 5%.
The fee is charged when the loan is accepted. Both players need enough gold for their share at that moment.
WARNING
Loan fees are never refunded. This includes when a loan is returned early.
Example
You loan a sword with an estimated market value of 50,000 gold.
- Full fee is 20 + 5,000 = 5,020 gold.
- For a 7 day loan, that is 50% of the full fee, so 2,510 gold.
- If you are a member, 15% comes off, so 2,134 gold.
- If you choose 50/50, you pay 1,067 gold and they pay 1,067 gold.
A cheaper item worth 5,000 gold on a 7 day loan would work out to 260 gold. It costs 1,000 gold instead, because that is the minimum.
Borrowing an item
When you borrow an item, you can use it like your own.
- Equip it and unequip it.
- Move it to and from your bank.
You cannot get rid of it. This means you cannot sell it, trade it, list it on the market, use it in an auction or deposit it in a guild stockpile.
TIP
If you already own the same item, you can still sell or trade your own one. You just need to keep enough to cover what you have borrowed.
When the loan ends
- The item returns to the owner automatically, within a few minutes of the loan ending.
- If the borrower has it equipped, it is unequipped and returned.
- Both players get a notification.
The owner cannot take an item back early. Only the borrower can return it early, from the loan window.
INFO
An item can only be returned early once 48 hours have passed since the loan was accepted. This stops the same item being passed around over and over.
Managing your loans
Press "Loans" on your own profile to see all of your loans.
- Loaned out shows items you have lent to others.
- Loaned in shows items others have lent to you.
The number on each tab shows how many loans are pending or active. The badge next to "Loans" on your profile shows offers waiting for your answer.
Open any loan to see its details, accept it, decline it or return it early. The loan window shows when an early return becomes available.
Notes
- Loan offers can be declined by either player while they are still pending.
- You need to wait 5 minutes between loan offers to the same player.
- You can have up to 10 pending offers sent at once.
- You can have up to 5 items loaned out at once. Once you reach this, you need to wait for a loan to end before another can be sent or accepted.
- Pending offers that are not accepted are removed after 5 days.
- If the fee changes before the offer is accepted, for example because the item's value moved, the offer will need to be sent again.
- If a borrower's character is deleted, the item goes back to its owner.
- If an owner's character is deleted, the item is removed from the borrower.
- Completed loans are removed from your history after 12 months.
